Edinburgh based, (London trained) contemporary photographer with more than a nod to the classic camera images of the 30's and 50's. Passion allied to technical excellence has always been the mantra of Bluetone and this knowledge is increasingly important as we move into the digital age.

Mr Bluetone was originally a University Philosophy graduate and self-taught photographer who finally saw the light and re-trained at both Art School and finally at a highly regarded Technical College. His fellow artists at this London industry finishing school also included experts from the MOD, Police Forensics and medical fraternity.

It was this decision that helped balance the extreme technical nature of 'painting with light' and the creative drive of an artist, allowing high-quality art photographs to be produced within an organised working methodology. Art and science.

Old-School knowledge of Sensitometry such as the Zone System of Ansel Adam's and it's function within Developing and Printing, (which garnered Bluetone many accolades), is increasingly in demand as digital devotees realise the study of past masters and their techniques transfer readily into the modern photographic world.
